In late January, the Executive Secretary of the Cleveland Building and Construction Trades Council was appointed to serve on the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
David Wondolowski becomes one of two Democratic Party members to serve on the board, which consists of four local members (two Democrats and two Republicans), each appointed to a four-year term by the Secretary of State based on recommendations from their political party. Ohio Secretary of State John Husted serves as the fifth board member in the event a board ends in a tie.
Together, the Board and the elections staff work to ensure a fair voting process for the residents of Cuyahoga County.
“This is a great opportunity to be able to assure that our voices are heard at the polls. I’m honored to represent the Democrats on the board,” said Wondolowski.
Wondolowski joins Inajo Davis Chappell, Chairwoman of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, who is the other Democratic Party representative on the Board.
Serving on behalf of the Republican Party is Rob Frost, Cuyahoga County Republican chairman, and Jeff Hastings.
Board members are charged with overseeing the election process. Their job is to create the policy and procedures for the Director, Deputy Director and their staff to implement and follow. Members of the Board must make sure all policies and procedures adhere to the Ohio Revised Code and are in line with all directives issued by the Ohio Secretary of State.
