Craftsmanship Awards moves to Browns Stadium

The 2024 Craftsmanship Awards event will be held at a new venue.
Following several years at Windows on the River, the event that honors those who build Greater Cleveland will take place at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Aug. 29.
For affiliated members of the Cleveland Building Trades and affiliated signatory contractors, the new location is fitting, as the stadium was built and maintained by the area building trades.
Construction on Cleveland Browns Stadium began in 1997 under a Project Labor Agreement, as building trades members worked on a tight schedule to complete the project in time for a public open house event on Aug. 15.
Less than a week later, the re-incarnated Browns organization hosted the first game in the venue – an exhibition contest won by the Minnesota Vikings 24-17.
Not only was the stadium built by the region’s union construction workforce, but they also perform maintenance and upgrade work on the facility.
In late August, the Craftsmanship Awards will provide an evening to celebrate and recognize the excellent work performed by area tradesmen and tradeswomen, as well as the contractors who employ them.
Top apprentices from each trade will be recognized as well.
In years past, attendees sat at tables during the awards ceremony. This year, the new location will feature theatre-style seating.
Registration and a cocktail reception will occur from 5 to 6 p.m. The awards ceremony will begin at 6 p.m., with an post-awards reception lasting from 7 to 9 p.m.
Those attending the event are asked to follow the business cocktail dress code.
Following a 20-year hiatus, the Craftsmanship Awards returned in 2019 and has since been an annual event. While the 2020 event was held virtually due to the pandemic, each award ceremony since then was held in person.
The deadline to register for the awards ceremony is Aug. 16. For more information, visit clevelandcraftsmanship.com.
