Cleveland Building Trades Partner with Tall Ships Event

The tall ships are coming back to Cleveland in July and the Cleveland Building Trades are teaming up with this four-day waterfront festival. The Tall Ships Challenge, which takes place from July 11 through July 14, will cap off Cleveland’s Major League Baseball All-Star week. The event begins with a Parade of Sail on Thursday evening, featuring a display of 10 traditionally rigged sailing vessels from Canada, the United States and New Zealand that are crewed, in part, by youth between the ages 13 of 25.In addition to being able to board and tour the ships, festival-goers can receive educational and sailing programs, enjoy sail-aways and check out the exhibits and other activities. Sail-aways are 90-minute excursions on Lake Erie in one of three designated ships.Cleveland is the second host port for the Tall Ships Challenge Great Lakes 2019 race series, as the fleet, which includes 10 replica and restored ships, will be docked near the north side of FirstEnergy Stadium.Dave Wondolowski, Executive Secretary of the Cleveland Building and Construction Trades Council, said it was an easy decision to partner with the Downtown Cleveland Alliance for this event.“They promote responsible economic development, which means jobs for our members,” he said. “When they asked us to support something like this, it really was an easy decision because of everything they do for us.”Since the Cleveland Building Trades are a partner with this event, affiliated members can purchase tickets at a reduced rate.Members can use the discount code BUILDING, when purchasing tickets online at tallshipscle.com/tickets, to receive $2 off the price of any ticket.Advanced general admission prices are valid through July 10 and will increase for walk-up sales. Separate tickets can also be purchased for the sail-away.
